Skegness ButlinsBook an amazing family holiday at Butlins at Skegness If you'd like to have a great family holiday then Butlins is an amazing place for the whole family. At Skegness they have an amazing central building called the Skyline Pavillion! It's an enormous pavillion style "tent" which towers over the park and plays host to loads of great entertainment and eateries! In the Skyline Pavillion at Butlins you'll find bars, restaurants, fast food, snacks, arcades, entertainment, amusements and rides. The place is packed with things to do for everyone including a supermarket and an internet cafe. Butlin's Skegness has it's own access directly to the beach. The beach gate is open from 9AM to 7PM and the beach is excellent for the whole family with swimming, paddling and plenty of sand to build castles and play in the water or fly kites. Directly in front of the beach are two sets of amazing wind turbines - they are miles out and as of August 2008 are being commissioned to provide wind powered electricity. They're fascinating, beautiful and don't distract from the view at all! For families looking for a safe beach holiday within the UK then Skegness Butlins offers a great beach and there are ice cream sellers, hot drinks and food as well as a beach shop and beach entertainment. When you arrive at butlins they'll issue you with tons of information about what there is to do, and the schedule of events and activities taking place for younger children as well as teens. There are information areas within the site to give you help and info on anything about butlins - so ask for help if you're stuck for ideas!
There are loads of things to do for free at Butlins - there's a funfair
available every day packed with exciting rides for everyone. There's
thrill rides and gentler rides for the younger ones too. There's several outdoor play areas - one of the Old Fruit Shoot Mine which is an adevnture play fort and there's one next to the Sun and Moon restaurant and bar which means the kids can play there whilst waiting for food or whilst parents relax and enjoy a drink. There are plenty of open grassed areas too for general running around and playing other sports! There's another great play area for small children - Bob the Builder's Yard is packed with rides and fun for little kids! There's a great Bob statue outside for them to have their photo taken with too! There's regular character events too with loads of different characters from all their favourite TV shows which gives them the chance for more photo fun. If you want to get photos printed whilst you're there there is a great photo printing shop available inside the Pavillion! Tennis courts and Snooker tables, darts and table tennis are all available too at Green Baize - all free of charge. For water fun there's Splash - an indoor adventure waterwolrd with flunmes and wave machines. There's also a large outdoor pool available too during the day! Some activites incur additional charges. Funworks amusement arcade offers a huge range of amusement machines
and arcade games. There's a Spa on site too which offers various treatments, including hot volcanic stone massage. There's a TV channel for butlins available which gives you information on what's on and available each day. Plus there's atext message service which sends you details of Butlin's special offers each day and are redemed by showing the text message. There's a nursery on site which has qualified nursery nurses and is
available in 2 hour sessions. This area is also where any lost children
are taken. There's a huge range of sport activies availble including archery, football, five a side, fencing, and fighting fit! With competitons and treasure hunts too. There's an entertainment guide which gives you a day by day guide to what's on at the different entertainment locations. Butlins will keep you entertained all week. There's loads to do even if it rains as there are plenty of indoor activities. If you decide to explore the local area then there's Fantasy Island a short walk up the beach which offers a huge number of rollercoasters and other rides as well as a great market to shop in! There's a Wimpy and a McDonalds here as well as loads of fast food outlets including wonderful fish and chips, donuts and other snacks. At Skegness there's tons to do and see with more amazing beach, a fun fair here too and loads of snack bars and places to eat. Head into Skegness shopping centre and you'll find some great shops for souveniers plus clothes shopping and toys and gadgets. There's a good number of charity shops on the main road for those who love to mooch for a bargain!

Butlins has it's own caravan park at Skegness. Friends and family can get day tickets to come and explore Butlins with you - this is great if you've got friends who live fairly close or are also staying in the area. If you want to go offsite then you are free to do so at any time - you can find taxis at the main entrance or there's a bus stop just outside the main gate and it's on a well served frequent bus route so you can easily explore the local area on public transport.

At Skegness there's a Seal Santuary which is well worth a visit to see the adult seals as well as the baby seals that are rescued and looked after until they're strong enough to be returned to the sea. This also has aquarium exhibitions, a creepy crawly section (with spiders, scorpions and turtles and lizards) and a lovely butterfly exhibition and bird house. With goats, sheep and fish it's a great place to visit.
There's also a Seal Sanctuary at Mablethorpe a few miles along the coast. Inland there's Claythorpe Watermill & Wildfowl Gardens- which has owls, flamingoes, ducks, peacocks, geese, wallabies, cranes and many other birds and fish. There's a great cafe here too. Gumby Hall is a national trust property which is incredible beautiful. |
